The Washington Heritage Museums is undertaking a reinterpretation of the historic garden and kitchen at 1200 Charles Street. With recent firebox restoration efforts completed, the kitchen is ready to welcome a wealth of hands-on learning at all levels, including:
The lives and stories of the enslaved persons who resided on Mary Washington's property.
18th-century foodways and vegetable garden maintenance.
Types of cookware and utensils used by Virginians.
Seasonal food displays.
Interactive activities for learners of all ages.
