Join us on Tuesday, May 14 for a very special Tea Talk as Master Gardener Lynette Morrissette guides us through the history of Mary Washington’s Garden. She will reveal what the gardens might have looked like in Mary’s day and then highlight the history and plans from 1969 when the Garden Club of Virginia restored the gardens based on Mary’s “habits, her likes, and her needs in a garden.” Lynette will complete the Tea Talk with a brief tour of the garden, pointing out noteworthy plants, trees and lovely floral beds.

About our speaker:

Following two careers as both a public school educator and a program manager for the Department of Defense, Lynette Morrissette fulfilled her dream and became a Master Gardener by completing the Virginia Tech EXT Program. She now combines her love of growing beautiful plants and flowers with a great satisfaction of “talking plants,” both informally and in a teaching environment.

She and her husband, Michael, have lived in King George, VA for 8 years and last year opened “Powhatan Posies,” a 100% organic micro-flower farm. Flower lovers from all over can come for a unique “You-Pick” experience which allows you to become the architect of your own vibrant bouquet. Open Sundays 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. JUNE to OCTOBER. www.powhatanposies.com
