Tickets for this event will go on sale Monday, November 2nd at 9 a.m.

Join historian and award-winning author Brooke Barbier on Tuesday, December 1st for an engaging evening that raises a glass to the people, politics, and drinking culture of the American Revolution. Discover what Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and other notable figures liked to imbibe—and find out which revolutionary might have been your ideal drinking companion: Abigail Adams, John Hancock, Paul Revere, or another storied American.

Designed as an intimate experience for 24 guests, the program continues through each of the tavern's rooms with historic cocktail samples, food pairings (light faire), and brief stories about each drink’s historical significance (a historically inspired nonalcoholic mocktail will also be available). Guests will have an opportunity to meet Brooke and purchase her book, Cocked and Boozy: An Intoxicating History of the American Revolution and also receive a complimentary Rising Sun Tavern shot glass as a keepsake of this unforgettable evening.

PLEASE NOTE: To ensure that we have enough books for both events, we encourage you to reserve your pre-event copy at the link below by Monday, November 9th. Books will be available for pick-up at the Mary Washington Museum Store or at the Tavern Talk. All book proceeds will directly benefit Washington Heritage Museums. PRE-ORDER COCKED AND BOOZY
